Dracaena fragrans, commonly known as the Corn Plant, is a tropical African evergreen tree that has been a popular indoor plant in Europe since the mid-1800s and in the U.S. since the early 20th century. It grows from thick canes or stems that produce long, narrow leaves resembling stalks of corn, which grow upward, giving it a distinctive appearance. The plant is slow-growing and can reach up to 15 meters (49 ft) tall in its natural habitat, but as a houseplant, it typically reaches about 2 meters (6½ ft) tall. Its glossy, strap-shaped leaves can be up to 40 cm long, adding to its ornamental value. Dracaena Fragrans is celebrated for its easy-going nature and ability to thrive in light shade, making it an excellent choice for indoor environments.
